Hi Rob, all,

Regarding the rcc.uchicago.edu resource, Dave Lesny and I have been working on a wrapper script for Midway jobs that would automatically make CVMFS available to ATLAS Connect users. However, one limitation of Parrot is that switching between repositories (e.g., from atlas.cern.ch to atlas-condb.cern.ch) is only experimentally supported. In practice, I have found the repository switching to be very slow.

This leads me to the following question: What kind of workloads can be run with only the atlas.cern.ch repository?

When I try to setup ALRB, for example, I get warnings that atlas-condb and sft are not mounted. I notice that on MWT2 we have atlas-nightlies available as well.

I just submitted 20,000 5 minute jobs. They all ran successfully. Below is a

Notice the new resource, rcc.uchicago.edu <http://rcc.uchicago.edu>, which is
from the UC research computing center (the
nodes have names with “midway” in the name). Note - they don’t have CVMFS
mounted, one
has to use Parrot to access CVMFS. We hope to get a nice ROOT example in the
ATLAS ConnectBook giving a recipe. Note this resource wont always be
available, but
we are working on gaining access as backfill.

- Rob
