If I assume that the momentum spread effect >> betatron size, then taking Elke’s pl distribution and summing only pl < 1.0 - 10 delta,  I get efficiencies vs delta:

Delta 6.5 e-4 efficiency 7%

            3.25e-4                   17%

            1.62e-4                   34%

This seems more severe than Richard’s drop from 30% to 10 %, when dispersion is on which I cannot explain. Question for Richard: what divergences were you using? I am assuming it was the Standard High Luminosity case that violates the dp/p effect >> betatron assumption.

We need to see what luminosity price is paid for these dp/p reductions

With no dispersion, efficiency depends only on the x divergence and transverse momentum. For 200 MeV/c and x divergence 56 murad (as in our “high Acceptance” case) we get 50% efficiency, at a different price of luminosity., which is now looking rather good!

It is certainly not clear that we gain anything with our high dispersion Roman Pots. At least not without longitudinal cooling.

Hi all,

The link to the slides on the study Elke referenced can be found below.  See you all soon:

Dear Bob, Dear All,

so Rich did a complete study of the design we decided all on is the one we want to study in detail.

He will send out his slides for the meeting soon, just polishing one or two slides.

But I think it would be good before we go and improve parameters further, we discuss in what direction we want to go.

Because as you will see both the divergence and the dispersion have quite some impact.

Looking forward to interesting discussions

The 1702 slides that I had sent before, would be an introduction to 1703 ones I had sent out today.

So yes I will come to this, but skip Christoph's 2.00 Meeting

Dear All,
Bob couldn't make our meeting last Friday due to illness. He'd asked last Friday morning whether we could squeeze in a Special meeting this week to hear what he's been working on, we discussed it at last Friday's mtg, and the only time that seemed possible was just after the eRHIC ring-ring design meeting. The ring-ring design meeting starts at 2 pm, so this would suggest a start time of about 3:30 pm Wednesday.
I should have sent this query out earlier, but, do we want to squeeze in this meeting tomorrow afternoon?
Please send a reply to the list indicating your preference (yes or
no) and whether you could attend it it occurs at 3:30 pm (yes or no). If there is sufficient interest and availability I'll send another E-mail announcing the mtg.
    Greetings,
        Bill
