Last month we jump-started ECCE software discussion on the BNL-hosted MatterMost chat app, which is a Slack-like instant messaging platform while we have the full ownership for content and history. 

 

We started as a channel under the generic EIC-UG MatterMost Team but we have quickly outgrown it. Therefore, we have just established a dedicated ECCE Team on MatterMost, which allows us to make channels for any ECCE discussion such as physics and detector teams:

Welcome to try it out, including its desktop and mobile apps [ https://mattermost.com/download/ ]. 

 

Any email can sign up, regardless of BNL account status. If you need to sign up with a non-BNL SDCC account, please contact jhuang AT bnl.gov for an invitation. 

 

Few notes: 

• The Fun4All-ECCE chat channel and its users have been moved to https://chat.sdcc.bnl.gov/ecce/channels/fun4all-ecce . If you have already been signed up with this channel, the new channel URL should already work for your account
• We expect this instant messaging capability for ECCE to complement the email-focused communication platforms, including the discourse and email list services. 
• For detector and physics teams, welcome to make your working group channel or topical channels. ECCE have full control of this space. 
• Welcome to check out and the existing channels too. For example here, I made a few channels for each of the PWGs under the physics team.
