Dear collaborators,

Following our most recent IB meeting discussion, we are asking for nominations for ECCE Physics Godparents. As detailed in the charge below, the role of Physics Godparent is far less time demanding than that of a convener but is not less important for developing our proposal.

We appreciate your nominations (including self nominations) in the coming week.

Thanks,
Tanja, Or, and John

Charge for ECCE Physics Godparents:

Background:
 - ECCE physics studies are carried out in working groups focused on reaction processes (inclusive, semi-inclusive, exclusive etc.).
 - The ECCE proposal will present its studies in groups of physics topics (mass, spin & flavor, emergent properties of dense gluons systems etc.).
 - Each process-focused working group is conducting studies that impact several physics topics (e.g. inclusive processes are relevant for spin, emergent properties and more)
 - We have conveners for the process-focused working groups and don’t have experts dedicated to looking at how well we cover each physics topic.
 - As the proposal has a very stringent page limit, it will be complemented by a set of supplementary documents that will each cover an individual physics topic.

Proposal: we propose appointing a ‘godparent’ for each physics topic.

Godparent responsibilities:
 - Work with the process-focused working group to define priorities for studies based on three categories:
*) studies most important to showcase our ability to deliver on EIC science as defined in the EIC white paper and NAS study report.
     *) most significant early results that can be obtained from 5 fp-1 of e-p @ 250 GeV x 10 GeV and 5 fb-1 of e-A @ 110 GeV x 10 GeV.
 - Draft the outline and text for the proposal section discussing the physics topic, in collaboration with the steering committee and proposal editorial and physics teams.
