Hi All,

One small addition to Cameron’s earlier e-mail:

A set of highq2 eval files are now also available via xrootd. These are jobs that were run on the JLab cluster
as opposed to the ones on the S3 storage that were run on the OSG. They were the same generated events
though so should be equivalent statistically. To access them from you local computer, just make sure xrootd
is installed (e.g. yum install xrootd) and then something like:

export LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib64/libXrdPosixPreload.so
ls root://sci-xrootd.jlab.org//osgpool/eic/ECCE/MC/ana.14/5f210c7/SIDIS/pythia6/ep_18x100highq2/eval_00000

Note that the double slash “//“ after jlab.org is not a typo and is required. With this you should be
able to open files directly via root without having to download them with something like:

> root root://sci-xrootd.jlab.org//osgpool/eic/ECCE/MC/ana.14/5f210c7/SIDIS/pythia6/ep_18x100highq2/eval_00000/DST_SIDIS_pythia6_ep_18x100highq2_039_0098000_01000_g4tracking_eval.root

root [1] tracks->Print()

-David

Dear all,

I have a correction to my last email, the top path to the data is eicS3 NOT S3.

Apologies for the confusion,

Subject: First ECCE production output

Dear ECCE enthusiasts,

We have put together the first ECCE concept, tentatively called “June 2021 Concept” and launched some initial productions which can be found in our S3 storage area. We would like to encourage the detector working groups to check the output to ensure the response is as expected and the physics working groups to check that all the required information is contained in the output. Please let us know of any problems or missing information. The detector configuration can be found on the second page of this spreadsheet:

The client to enable read-only access to S3 will now be started when you run the latest ECCE environment:

source /cvmfs/eic.opensciencegrid.org/ecce/gcc-8.3/opt/fun4all/core/bin/ecce_setup.sh -n

You can test your connection to S3 with:

mcs3 ls S3
or
mc ls S3

Where mc is the client, ls is list and S3 is the top folder. You may wish to overwrite Midnight Commander with:

alias mc='/cvmfs/eic.opensciencegrid.org/ecce/gcc-8.3/opt/fun4all/utils/bin/mcs3'

You can find our productions at:

Single Electrons:
S3/eictest/ECCE/MC/new/5f210c7/General/particleGun/singleElectron

Single Pions:
S3/eictest/ECCE/MC/new/5f210c7/General/particleGun/singlePion

Low q2 SIDIS events:
S3/eictest/ECCE/MC/ana.14/5f210c7/SIDIS/pythia6/ep_18x100lowq2

High q2 SIDIS events:
S3/eictest/ECCE/MC/ana.14/5f210c7/SIDIS/pythia6/ep_18x100highq2

Please note that the evaluator files are located under the folder
eval_0000 in each of the above folders. We are also in the process of producing the low q2 files so that directory is currently empty until we transfer them from the production site.

You can copy files out with mcs3 cp <someFile> <someDownloadLocation>

Also, be aware that we are still checking the output of the files and the job log files. It should be expected that some files are not filled so we may need to filter out these files for the time being.

There will be a third ECCE workshop on July 8th to discuss how to access the files and get started with studies the agenda will be populated here https://indico.bnl.gov/event/12245/

There are also simulation office hours if you have any questions. The next office hours are today at 2pm EST,https://indico.bnl.gov/event/11584/

Many thanks,
Cameron, Jin, David, Cristiano, Joe and Christoph
