Hi Greg, all,

I have an update on the possible configuration for MRPCs in the hadron endcap. The summary is that we can cut the number of readout channels by a factors of 2 by building larger MRPCs. This has been confirmed with experts .

On the barrel: it will be very hard to build MRPC even in a single layer in a radial distance of 4 cm.  I am looking forward to a discussion to work it out to have more space.
