- Subject: [Eic-bnl-comp-l] Long jobs on interactive nodes
- Date: Thu, 4 Feb 2021 11:03:09 -0500
Hi all,
In the last two days multiple individual users had jobs running for
more than 12 hours on the interactive nodes.
Please remember that after 12 hours they get "reniced", meaning other
jobs on the same node will get higher priority and potentially slow
the long jobs down even further.
In practice, on a small scale this is unlikely to be a problem, but I
strongly recommend chopping your jobs up into smaller chunks and then
ideally submitting them to the farm via condor which will greatly
speed up your workflow. Let me know if you need help with this
procedure.
Best,
Kolja
