Dear Colleagues,

It is now widely recognized that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) is a core component for scientific computing and has the potential to transform how experiments are conducted, how simulations are run and how data are analyzed. BNL’s diverse scientific disciplines can potentially all benefit from the application of AI and ML while at the same time share many challenges. As the AI/ML landscape is evolving rapidly, we want to leverage all recent techniques and development while bringing together the unique and diverse pool of knowledge present at BNL.  To this end, we are forming the BNL AI/ML Working Group, and invite everyone who is interested to join.

The goals of the BNL AI/ML working group are to

* Form a lab-wide AI/ML community to share common interests,
challenges and collaboration opportunities
* Provide timely and appropriate training events to the lab staff on
fundamentals of scientific AI/ML
* Share progress of scientific AI/ML to the lab community via
seminars/workshops

Members of the working group will help formulate events of interest, join discussions, share relevant AI/ML resources and coordinate activities in different departments/directorates at BNL.

If you are interested in joining the working group, please complete the survey linked below by*April 23, 2021*.
