Dear collaborators and friends of the LFHCAL,

welcome to the team for this year's SPS test beam period. The beam time is
scheduled as you know from the 13th - 20th of May at the H2 area of SPS.
The CERN test beam crew has made an excellent new web page for test beam
users, which we'll be the guinea pigs of!
https://testbeams.web.cern.ch/
The page above has much more infos than I could ever collect, so please go
through and have a look.

Some general information for everyone who will attend in-person:

The TB area is situated in building 887 (also called EHN1) on the CERN
Prevessin site. Our control room is on the 1st floor and called
HNA383/0887-1-B81
(https://apex-sso.cern.ch/pls/htmldb_edmsdb/f?p=404:2100:12988686769547::::PERMISSION_ID:307
). Please remember to ask access for it. Our experimental area is H2 - and
the access for it can be requested after I give you patrol training under
(https://apex-sso.cern.ch/pls/htmldb_edmsdb/f?p=404:2100:12988686769547:::2100:PERMISSION_ID:54
).

The test beam area is situated in building 157 - T10. In order to access the
area you need a valid personal dosimeter and the corresponding training
(supervised radiation area). For those us who got a dosimeter before, the
procedure has changed you now have to request the dosimeter prior to going to
get it and the location has moved to Building 33, its also now open between
8:30am- 6:30pm for pickup (not sure whether the requests are processed after
noon though). Once everyone is here we'll determine who and how many of us
will get the patrol training. Bastien is fine with me training you.

In order to enter the general SPS hall you will need a dosimeter and the
corresponding trainings for it:

When we are entering the experimental area we also have to use appropriate
PPE. A mandatory requirement is a helmet, if you have one, feel free to bring
it, but we will have stockpile of helmets we can borrow. In particular during
the setup we should also wear safety shoes if possible. I know many of you
don't have any, but please make sure your shoes are at least closed and
sturdy enough not to slip. Similarly it is required we were long pants in
case we enter the experimental area. So please make sure you are
appropriately dressed when coming on shift. Its for your own safety.

Our tutorial for almost every part of the data taking and online analysis,
can be found here
https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://urldefense.us/v2/url?u=https-3A__friederikebock.gitbook.io_epiclfhcaltb-2Dana&d=DwIDaQ&c=v4IIwRuZAmwupIjowmMWUmLasxPEgYsgNI-O7C4ViYc&r=urKNFTiqVAljTXk6tfb4KcWmOEVf4A94_H0qoQQJZXk&m=4KYqJJGaGPX0x9ipneCe5THQ0pJgThRzgaf5OLIha6TFRgOjQDmI7BJQ2biutWCR&s=SOBflOtOKg7JTOGQs-NSwUyjEFamure5ZeY8xVuZ4BA&e=__;!!P4SdNyxKAPE!BYZBsiyIMVE5WZUV6v_AM4gWA3d_77QxGZG66JgkCL9kZrt1Z1feQEJjCosQhh7-ebGeZac18dAxbeT405WJO6TNCwlD9gtm2FP2GEvTf8BO9g$ It now also contains detailed sections on how to operate te HGCROC, start the data taking & which plots need to be monitored during the data taking.
Please take a look before you come to CERN. Of course we will introduce
everyone to all the necessary steps, but it helps a lot if all of you have
had a look at the documentation. For those of you who already attended the TB
let me know what's missing and we'll adjust it.

For rapid communication we will use our mattermost channel from last year:
https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://urldefense.us/v2/url?u=https-3A__chat.epic-2Deic.org_main_channels_lfhcaltb2024&d=DwIDaQ&c=v4IIwRuZAmwupIjowmMWUmLasxPEgYsgNI-O7C4ViYc&r=urKNFTiqVAljTXk6tfb4KcWmOEVf4A94_H0qoQQJZXk&m=4KYqJJGaGPX0x9ipneCe5THQ0pJgThRzgaf5OLIha6TFRgOjQDmI7BJQ2biutWCR&s=C72TYPCLH9AyccjqYUn2mkMpGiFDRmhnc0YeQkiW7Aw&e=__;!!P4SdNyxKAPE!BYZBsiyIMVE5WZUV6v_AM4gWA3d_77QxGZG66JgkCL9kZrt1Z1feQEJjCosQhh7-ebGeZac18dAxbeT405WJO6TNCwlD9gtm2FP2GEsp0ibMIg$
If you don't have an account yet please reach out and we'll fix that ;)

Further details, especially on exact schedules, will follow soon, but please
make sure that our presence sheet is up to date for the SPS period too:
https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16SiJ5E3SgFJb8MrV7MKKDnNdFBfONL-WG9tCg7O_DIw/edit?usp=sharing__;!!P4SdNyxKAPE!BYZBsiyIMVE5WZUV6v_AM4gWA3d_77QxGZG66JgkCL9kZrt1Z1feQEJjCosQhh7-ebGeZac18dAxbeT405WJO6TNCwlD9gtm2FP2GEt3H_qjPA$
and you can also choose your favorite shift slot already in the `SPS shift
schedule` tab. If we have volunteers who can't join in person but would like
to do analysis on the spot you are welcome to let me know and we'll arrange
as last time for a zoom room at all times and a data transfer as fast as we
can, somewhere where you have access.
In case I forgot to add someone from the crew (or didn't have their e-mails,
please fee free to forward the mail and let me know their email address)

In case you need to reach me during or before the TB my phone number is +1
865 3087900 and I should be reachable by whatsapp anytime.

Cheers,

Oskar & Fredi
