  Hi Tim,

  let me address some of your questions:
  • yes, there will be a single 1024ch FEB per sensor, for a total of 68
  • see the attached slide, as the LV system layout was presented at the recent review; a weird LV cable number comes from the necessity to include sense wires, and because of the grouping Saverio Minutoli came up with back then in March; I may have mis-calculated the totals though; anyway, feel free to modify this layout if needed; I assumed 3mW/ch anticipating a potential need in a 10bit ADC, a preamp with a higher input bandwidth, etc; we discussed this once with the OMEGA group colleagues
  As for the rest, we need feedback from other experts on this list, please. I'm not sure the DC-DC convertor configuration has been decided already.

  Cheers,
    Alexander.

Subject: [Eic-projdet-pfrich-electronics-l] pfRICH power services

Hello,

I am working on the power services requirements for the pfRICH detector. I need to verify if I understand the specifications as provided in the online services table here:
ePIC.Interface Control Document for Services.052023.xlsx

Here are my questions to help clarify things for me:

  1. is the FE board also referred to as “sensor”?
  2. why is it stated for FEE quantity “7 +4 * 68”?

Power requirements:

69,632 channels /  256 channel ASIC = 272

They have 4 ASICS specified per sensor =>  272/ 4 = 68 sensors

EICROC power: 1mw / channel x 256 => 256mw => with contingency: 300mw

We have 4x per sensor => 0.3W x 4 ASICS = 1.2W per sensor =>  1.2W/ 1.2V =  1A  per sensor

That yields ~ 70A total for the LV system => 84W
       With power conversion losses we can figure ~ 100W         total

  1. Why 7x 40A power lines?

  1. Is it planned to have power conversion on the sensor board…or will 1.2V power be fed directly from PSU without any regulation on the sensor side?

Thanks,
Tim
