Hello Alexander,

The noise concern would mostly be from conductive EMI and what is conducted through the leads and back to the circuits ground. This is typically attenuated  by decoupling capacitors and EMI ferrite bead and also depends on the ground and power plane layout. So, for a noise sensitive ASIC this can add another variable…that won’t be in the design at the experiment.

Fans proximity to the boards: The radiated EMI is small and I think what does emanate out from the near field should be absorbed by the grounded aluminum heatsink.

Do we have a part number for the fan…Even when the fan carries class A or B FCC rating it can come down to testing.

Regards,

Tim

  Hello colleagues,

a dumb question: in terms of an environment noise, is it actually a good idea to place cooling fans next to the ASIC boards? Can we rather make cold plates with through holes and use something like https://www.vevor.com/water-chiller-c_11145/cw5200dg-industrial-water-chiller-laser-eegraver-130w-150w-thermolysis-type-p_010364074035. We bought one recently for the lab, and it seems to be fairly easy to connect it to a daisy chain of flexible pipes? Or perhaps to a manifold, since we want to reposition the HRPPD individually in the test run?

  Cheers,

    Alexander.
