Subject: [[Eic-projdet-pfrich-mechanical-design-l] ] A virtual update on Mirror waviness report

Dear colleagues,

Given we don’t have a meeting today, I would like to post a few slides for a quick update on the waviness of the mirrors. So people can look over and think a bit, and maybe discuss in the next meeting.

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1SjAD5oyTH9Syq_Satks2d0aK9g0neWRZ/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=104993653063084683771&rtpof=true&sd=true

(please download it as pptx so the videos can play)

To summarize:

We took another look at the substrates provided by Purdue, and we concluded that the waviness of the mirror was NOT from the coating procedure, as the substrate before coating showed similar waviness. Previously we thought it was smooth only because the visual check was done with the protective film on. (see the video in the slides)

Interestingly, we found the very first substrate that Purdue provided (our coating #9) shows no/little waviness. So, some of the procedure/technique change introduced this waviness. Would be great if Sushurt can revisit this again and remind us what has been changed.

We do have another update on coating and reflectivity, but we will present it next Monday or maybe Thursday if the agenda is short.

Let me know.

Thanks!

Kong
