Dear Colleagues

Thanks for the meeting. As Alexandr suggested, we will start taking minutes to be sent after the meeting. This is what we discussed below. Feel free to comment or add if I missed anything.

1. Alexandr's presentation - he is ready to present next week.
Please notify Oleg soon, because the meeting will focus on TDR plans for EMcals, so the agenda will be busy. Also, please share your slides with the group.

slide 3: The test points in the outer area are too sparse in x,y and may bias the resolution to higher values. Alexandr will increase the number of points.
Angular resolution in HCal seems to be comparable to EMCal, but the combined one is much worse due to scattering. The angles differ and there is a shift/spread as seen in slide 4 - purple histogram.
In the region of overlap with barrel the resolution is much worse because of scattering. Keep in mind that we assume straight line projection for MC neutrons (that neglects the material) - may need track projection to study that.
\delta R added - seems to be ~10 cm for HCal only and ~ 25 cm for HCal+EMCal. Need to compare it to distances between particles from DIS events - see my ePIC meeting talk

slide 13: Low number of EMcal truth clusters - strange, need to notify the calorimetry group

2. Start work on optimizing cluster reconstruction - Prague group
- contact experts on what parameters to optimize
- suggestions: clustering range, sector/segment size, seed hit energy etc.

3. Need somebody to work on light propagation simulation to test a few options of light collection from tiles
- Prague group has expertise, but is already busy with other tasks
- maybe joint effort?

4. David familiarized with machine learning papers
- will take look at codes
- already in contact with LFHCAL via e-mail
- will start connecting to calorimetry and LFHCAL meetings
- start working on codes next week

Best regards, Leszek

Dear Colleagues

Let's have a DSC meeting on Friday at 0900h as usual. There are a few things that we need to discuss, but also updates are welcome.

1. Presentation on position resolution study by Alexandr at the next Calorimetry meeting
2. Work on clustering optimization - to be coordinated with experts. Use Mattermost and e-mail, but we need to communicate more on this topic and start working.
3. Machine learning study - update.
4. SQM poster abstract. Do you still plan to prepare it? I need to check it, but more importantly it needs to be approved by ePIC Talks Commitee.

Best regards, Leszek

Hi Maria

Yes good idea. However, please register to the mailing list first. We can set up a channel within ePIC Mattermost in order to not make it too complicated.

Best regards, Leszek

Hi Leszek!

What about opening a Mattermost channel ?
I will be easy for us to chat there with small issues, instead of writing mails :)

Pozdrowienia / Best regards,

Dear Colleagues

We are going to have backward HCal DSC meeting tomorrow:

The plan for the meeting is:

1. I will give an update on the study of energy deposition by n, p, pi+
2. Discussion of an early version of position resolution study by Alexandr.
3. Plans and ideas of the UNH group after last week's discussion.

We are aiming to present points 1 and 2 next week at the ePIC Calorimetry meeting.

Best regards, Leszek
