Dear Colleagues
I was going to send an update on the plans for further work, but this had to wait for local discussions. We can instead have a short notice meeting tomorrow at 1000h. If you have something to discuss or present or just need feedback. Here's the link:
I also prepared an availability document. Please let me know if you have any holidays, travels, conferences or just need to devote time to other projects. Just fill the document and it will simplify communication here and make it easier to plan:

Here are also some of the updates after discussion with Elke and other experts:
1. We need to apply simple/tried approaches to our studies or design. This means that we will skip machine learning for now. This is unrelated to any delays in work. We need to use something simple to understand, while machine learning can be applied for later optimization.
2. There are huge problems with 2-particle resolution study. We need to investigate why showers which are happening more than 1 meter away are actually interfering with each other. This is not supposed to happen with 20 cm wide showers. It indicates an issue with clustering, simulation (other materials besides nHCal?) or your study (see slide 18: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/20727/contributions/94427/). This can be investigated with VIRTUE (see slide 68) or the Firebird
event display: https://eic.github.io/firebird/display. Finally, I have hard time presenting these plots. We need to make them larger, have larger text, axis labels, legends and so on. Also, we need to catch such issues at an earlier stage.
3. Looks like there are issues with clusters. We need to investigate this and present it to experts. A few things point to that: cluster distance study from simulation campaign, 2-particle study and the clusters in high-material region of the outer part of nHCal (r>140 cm). There is also an alternative idea of abandoning clusters completely, but we need to discuss it more locally.
4. Looks like our strong point is the exclusive diffractive photoproduction of J/psi to dimuon and other vector mesons going to KK, but eventually also measure via dimuons. This will probably constrain the smallest size of the tile for us.
Best regards, Leszek
