Hi, EV users
A few items..
First, I’d like to note that some of the EV parking spots appear to still be
getting ICE’d. For anyone unfamiliar with the term, ICE stands for “internal
combustion engine”, and an EV parking spot is ICE’d if an ICE vehicle blocks
the spot. If you see this happening, we need to inform the drivers of those
vehicles that this should not continue. There are plenty of parking spot
options for non-EVs. If you don’t know the driver or are uncomfortable
discussing the topic with them, please contact me. In those cases, I would
appreciate either the driver’s name or their vehicle’s BNL parking sticker
number so I can try to find out who they are to communicate with them.
Second, as of a couple weeks ago, there were 4 vehicles signed up for the
permit program. I’ve seen one EV plugged in that wasn’t signed up, and I’ll
contact that individual. Otherwise I’d like to encourage folks to sign up and
participate. I know it isn’t free, but it’s still considerably less than a
monthly gas bill. And the greater the demand for the program, the stronger
the case we can make to expand the program.
Third, I haven’t yet heard of anyone having any conflicts. The primary
location I expected this issue would be Bldg. 535, which is convenient for
more than 3 vehicles, despite its two circuits. But 2 of those vehicles
haven’t been using the outlets, and last I heard weren’t signed up for the
program. So, currently, Jamie uses an outlet every day, and I use the other
primarily on Wednesdays (though I’ll be out tomorrow). I believe I speak for
Jamie when I say that either of us would gladly discuss arrangements for
sharing the outlet usage.
Cheers,
-Gene
