Dear Colleagues:
Below my signature please find a slightly revised outline and the
all-important writing assignments. The first person listed is the person I am
asking to lead the effort, and is therefore the person I will be harassing
for progress reports. Each of you are of course welcome to contribute to any
and all groups.
These assignments may not be a perfect diagonalization of the writing group
Hamiltonian, as there was near radio-silence in response to my previous
message (Barbara did contact me privately, and I spoke to Aaron yesterday).
Kudos to Ralf and Tony for their useful suggestions.
Kudos also to Mateusz and Tuomas for testing out the GitHub functionality. It
seems to work very nicely; many thanks to Gunther for setting this up!
Please do take advantage of GitHub and regularly commit your work. This makes
it possible for me to track progress, and it also serves you as the cloud
back-up of your work. I would much rather have signs of progress, however
meager, every few days rather than a massive document dump at 11:59 pm on
November 30th.
With many thanks for your cooperation and of course your hard work on this,
Bill

FORMATTING, CONVENTIONS:
=========================
A. We are using BibTeX for referencing. Whenever possible, use the listing
AND the identifier key provided by InSpire.
B. I have set up a skeleton directory structure corresponding the outline
previously circulated (plus a modification suggested by Ralf and Tony). If
you wish to add additional structure and/or \input with new files, please do
so with care.
C. I do not believe we need to use branches for this simple project. If you
see a compelling need to do so, please contact me first.
D. I have labeled each section, subsection, etc. in the skeleton with a
standardized \label name of the form Sec:HopefullyUsefulMnemonic . Please
follow this same custom when you introduce figures and tables. Every figure
and table should contain a \label identifier of the form Fig:UsefulName and
Tab:UsefulName, respectively. Please do not used labels such as Fig:Figure1
;-)
E. This is something that can always be solved with a global replace, but I’d
rather do it at the outset: Let’s refer to figures as
Figure~\ref{Fig:UsefulName} rather than Fig.~\ref{Fig:UsefulName}, and of
course similarly for sections and tables. I admit this may be idiosyncratic
on my part, but we don’t need to follow APS style guides and in fact this
convention is better suited for general readers.
