Description

The work below will be undertaken in the maintenance period:

• The use of SSH port forwarding at the beamlines will no longer be permitted from workstations and displays. If you need to use port forwarding to a beamline computer, please use a system in the limited zone such as an ioc.
• The beamline DNS servers will be replaced with new hardware. There may be brief downtime as the old servers are retired and the new servers brought into service.
• The beamline DHCP servers will be consolidated into one new server. There should be no impact to beamline operations but DHCP requests may fail while the transition occurs.
• ITD Network Engineering will change the network access control lists (ACLs) to allow certain accelerator systems to see some common services.
• ITD Network Engineering will change routing to allow accelerator systems to connect externally thought the N2SN firewall as opposed to using the tiny proxy.
• The NSLS2 IP management will be moved to a new server https://ip.nsls2.bnl.gov
• The NSLS2 Nagios monitoring will be rebuild and moved to https://mon.nsls2.bnl.gov/
• Data will be transferred from the GPFS central to Lustre for CryoEM
• The default password prompt for beamline systems will be changed from BNL ITD (Active Directory) Password:  to Password: . This change is to revert to the default behavior of centrify now that the beamline computers use Active Directory exclusively.
• The IT standing team will migrate VMs from the virtualbox infrastructure to the new VMWare infrastructure. There may be outages as these machines are migrated across.
