Just to remind that we decided to handle goals in an informal way outside of PeopleSoft. You gave me input last fall and I update it as events and our discussions develop.

Time to Enter 2020 Performance Goals

The Laboratory's ePerformance system is now open for all non-bargaining unit employees to begin entering goals for fiscal year (FY) 2020.

The Laboratory's annual performance appraisal process will include an inclusion and diversity goal for staff in FY20. More information about this will be provided in an upcoming Monday Memo. Staff from the Human Resources Directorate will also host brown-bag lunch briefings in the coming weeks on creating effective inclusion and diversity goals. Dates and times will be announced.

You can also register for Performance Goal Setting courses. These will be offered:
- For supervisors on Tuesday, March 3, 9 a.m. – noon, in the HR Training Room in Bldg. 703 (https://www.bnl.gov/training/courses/index.php?q=102)
- For employees on Wednesday, March 11, 9 – 11 a.m. in the HR Training Room in Bldg. 703 (https://www.bnl.gov/training/courses/index.php?q=101)

Employees should have two to five performance goals, including an inclusion and diversity goal. Goals should be agreed upon by employees and their supervisors.

In addition to an inclusion and diversity goal, examples of performance goals include a special project, a job function to improve or expand upon, a stretch assignment, or a new collaboration. A goal can build on a staff member's roles, responsibilities, accountabilities, and authorities (R2A2) but it should not simply restate contents of an R2A2.

You should complete the goal setting process by Wednesday, April 15. Before then, you and your supervisor should meet to discuss and agree on your performance goals. Ultimately, your supervisor has the final responsibility and accountability to approve goals and ensure that they are aligned with Lab and department needs and direction.

To enter your goals into the ePerformance system follow the steps below:
- Log in to PeopleSoft HR (located under the "Employee Resources" tab on the intranet homepage: https://intranet.bnl.gov/).
- Select Employee Self Service > Performance Management > My Performance Documents > Current Documents
- Click on the blue appraisal link under "Document Type" for the period end date 09/30/2020.
- To begin entering goals, click on the plus sign in Section 1 next to Add Item.
