Hi all,
As we discussed in our interesting meeting on Friday, there's a lot of EIC activity now around establishing proto-collaborations and their software efforts; CORE is added to the list today with their kickoff meeting. The question naturally arises that while NPPS members are not joining particular proto-collaborations at this stage -- we serve the community -- NPPS members should presumably be welcome participants in the proto-collaborations' discussions (ie joining mailing lists and participating in meetings). We can best be aware of, respond to and serve the needs when we are participants in the discussion. (As our management has encouraged us to make clear since the group's formation, NPPS is not a service organization, we operate as embedded participants in the Department's scientific programs.) I'm happy to report that BNL EIC and Department leadership have expressed their expectation that we will be welcome participants in proto-collaboration discussions.
