Dear colleagues,
In our computational high-energy physics program (“WATCHEP” = Western Advanced Training for Computational High-Energy Physics) moves forward, we are currently preparing student trainee application forms and selection rubrics. We will be looking for 6 trainees in this first cohort to start in March/April (spring quarter).
You are part of the group who indicated interest in the area of collaborative software infrastructure. We would like to collect a list of lab mentors and potential projects in this area at https://watchep.org/ so that students can identify potential projects in their applications. This can be done in a meeting or asynchronously via email.
Some items we had mentioned in the proposal:
- global computing infrastructure optimization
- toolkits for unbinned unfolding
- modernization of inference methods using tensor algebra libraries
- computing infrastructure R&D
If you prefer to respond by email, please send me
- the title of the project
- possible mentor(s)
If you prefer to meet for more discussion, please let me know when you are available this Friday at https://www.when2meet.com/?18364738-xSIIg.
We are also looking for people to contribute training modules in this area. If you are willing to help, please contact Heidi.Schellman AT oregonstate.edu.
Thanks,
Jason Nielsen
P.S. Please forward to people I may have missed. Apologies to those of you who get a similar message for hardware-software co-design.
