Subject: SBU Diversity Professional Leadership Network Program- Volunteers Needed

 

Good Morning,

 

BNL will be participating in SBU’s Diversity Professional Leadership Network Program (DPLN- see attached DPLN Professional Buddy Guidelines for details). As part of this initiative, we will be pairing undergraduate URM students with a member of BNL staff who will serve as a mentor, AKA, “professional buddy” fromSeptember ‘23 – May ’24. The L&D team has reached out for assistance in identifying potential buddies for the next academic year as part of a program with SBU students.

 

The students have education/backgrounds in the following disciplines- chemistry, physics, engineering (mechanical, biomedical), Information Systems, computer science, & astronomy/planetary sciences.

 

We are asking if you can solicit interest from your employees and then the student resumes will be matched with those that express interest. The employees you provide will be contacted by a L&D team member to discuss the program further. 

 

Please let me know who in your department you recommend by Wednesday, 5/31. Thank you!
