Join us in a candid conversation with Abhay Deshpande, director of the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) and founding director of the Center for Frontiers in Nuclear Science (CFNS) at Stony Brook University. Abhay is a Distinguished Professor in the department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University. He has been involved and led nuclear/particle physics experiments at BNL as well as at CERN in Switzerland, DESY in Germany, Jefferson Lab in Virginia, and PSI in Switzerland. He was one of the earliest proponents of the EIC since the late 1990s and has been a leader in developing EIC science, making the case for it, and initiating and organizing the users community and detector collaborations around the project.
