RE:  Information on the June 24^th, investment meeting

 

The Lab is holding a Strategic Planning Workshop for the science directorates on July 2. The workshop will be attended by members of the Policy Council, Science Chairs, and various Business Office staff. The objectives of the workshop include identifying the BNL Science direction in the current fiscal environment, boundary conditions for anticipated FY20/21 budgets, as well as discussion of the prioritized list of areas for research investment and on mission support focus areas needed to advance the Science strategy.

 

In order to prepare for this workshop, we first need to update the NPP priorities for investments in our science program for FY 2020, with an outlook of at least 5 years. You should bring into the Monday meeting a list of your group’s investment needs and priorities for the next five years with a rough estimate of the required investment by year. All investment items should be accompanied by a rough estimate of the amount and time scale of the expected ROI. The latest version of our 5-year investment file is attached for your information. You should not feel bound by this, but it may be useful as a starting point. One aspect to consider is that Instrumentation Division will not be considered as a part of NPP this year.
