Hi guys,

I propose we continue our summer break this week rather than having NPPS meetings tomorrow. Let me know if you think we should have group/leadership meetings. Next week we won't meet because of DUNE data model workshop, we will meet Aug 21. If no prompt objections I'll announce to the group.

Updates:

We got all approvals for the data management position for Belle II and (pending program development funds) DUNE, and the posting has gone to HR. US ATLAS is kindly standing in for PD funds until they show up. If we actually hire someone before PD funds show up, ATLAS will direct that part of the person's work while ATLAS is paying for it. (Separate matter will be if ATLAS wants to have a piece of the person in steady state, independent of the sign-on accounting; the expectation is that ATLAS will want that if we get the person we e to.)

Next priority is getting the sPHENIX+EIC postdoc posting out. 

Haven't heard anything about PD funds, discussions of the proposals are going on this week at NPP level as I understand.

Andrei Nomerotski has it in mind to propose to LSST (after positive preliminary discussions I've mentioned) that they hire a documentation-oriented junior technical person at BNL, someone who would be concurrently learning their DM software towards making technical contributions of their own over time. I talk to him about this again today and it sounds like a good plan to me.

The nuclear theory group is interested in continuing a collaboration initiated with PAS, involving ASCR SciDAC support for HPC usage at the ~half a lan . The existing collaboration is in its final months, Swagato is interested to continue it. Will discuss with him this week.
