I've started a revisions/extensions section at the end.

Thanks Paul,Yes particularly if we have a PanDA ML services LDRD proposal, that would be standalone cross-experiment. With sPHENIX about to officially say PanDA will be their WMS (I spied on their slides :-) it does feel like time to pull out PanDA as cross-experiment, especially when the topic is BNL support.BNL PanDA instance we can take up post sPHENIX review (they ask for that clearly). Should be on same model as at CERN in my opinion. Facility provisions the facilities and PanDA services are supported with experiment side (ie NPPS) effort.Analysis systems would I think look more like a joint effort with SDCC, especially with Doug there.Another interesting thing I spied in the sPHENIX slides was "We should ask NPPS to provide a dedicated position to reduce our memory footprint and/or support multithreading", that may be territory that belongs in our strategy document in some form.TorreTorreOn Tue, Mar 16, 2021 at 2:13 PM Laycock, Paul <laycock AT bnl.gov> wrote:Throwing these ideas here..
Would it be better to pull out PanDA as a cross-experiment proposal that touches on ATLAS, sPHENIX, Rubin and EIC? If the lab won’t support cross-experiment software proposals then why have NPPS?
I personally think it would be appropriate to mention proposals where some effort would be needed in SDCC, e.g. a BNL PanDA instance and I would think analysis systems too. Maybe that’s not the purpose of this request but if effort is needed then it should be included, otherwise we’re just creating the same problem for SDCC that I complained about.
LDRD Type A - DUNE part 2 could be a good match but reading this now I don’t know how much overlap there is with the HEP-CCE work.. Brett ?

_______________________________________________Hi,I'd like to discuss our input to NPP planning
in the group meeting on Fri. If you think there's anything in there that's impolitic for broad circulation let me know. I'd also like to discuss Hong's initial feedback...
“The call for LDRD Type A proposals will come soon. Topics for Type A proposals may include AI/ML. Do you think any of these can be part of a Type A LDRD for AI/ML?”
