Subject: PBR breakdown for FY22 (from the AIP Budget tracker)

Dear Colleagues,
Here is the President's budget request (PBR) breakdown for FY22.
The House bill taken up
by the full Appropriations committee today is slightly lower and
we should soon have
the figures for that. As shown the HL LHC upgrade projects have
received severe cuts,
as addressed in the recent community letter, but not responded to
in the bill. The cuts
in FY22 compound cuts to the HL LHC projects in FY21 relative to
the previously approved
planning profiles.
In the DPF community session with NSF and DOE and in an earlier
meeting with the
DOE Office of HEP leadership, it was mentioned that the Office
would take "reprogramming"
steps to protect the HL LHC program and support the P5 plan and
its priorities.
The community and DPF and HL LHC program leadership will be
following up with the
HEP office on this, noting that the present P5 is the foundation
of the Snowmass
process leading to the next P5.
Best regards
Harvey
