It was tempting to add my tl;dr of Zach's talk but I refrained, the talk speaks for itself, though it was in how he presented it too.
I can get it off my chest with you guys :-)
ATLAS is done with pretending it makes any cost/benefit sense to port to DOE's GPU-heavy HPCs.
Liz asked the direct question, does this mean ATLAS is not planning to take advantage of the large GPU-oriented HPCs the DOE plans to continue building over the next decade?
To which Zach responded (both Q and A are my paraphrase), that's very likely correct, and DOE/ASCR should reevaluate their plans.

Hi all,There will be no NPPS meeting this week because of a HEP-CCE workshop conflict. My highlight of the workshop so far has been the excellent talk by Zach Marshall (ATLAS computing co-coordinator) on ATLAS S&C R&D and plans towards HL-LHC and beyond.Torre---- Torre Wenaus, BNL NPPS Group, ATLAS Experiment-- NPPS Mattermost room: https://chat.sdcc.bnl.gov/npps/channels/town-square
