I think you need both Cedric and Hiro for the hardware side, Cedric can’t say much about the latter.

Very interesting. Very nice. I would love to promptly volunteer Cedric to talk to Brad.

Hi Torre,

I hope all is well with you. We’ve been talking, internal to JLab, about using RUCIO. One of the people I tasked with delving deeper is Brad Sawatzky (brads AT jlab.org). Brad is a physicist, formerly hall-C, and started working for me as a member of my department on Monday. He wrote:

I have been reading about Rucio.  It would be good to talk to someone
who has been through the implementation process at another Lab and
is suitably 'in the weeds' to get a good perspective on it.  Someone
associated with ATLAS would work, but even better would be someone at
a 'non-CERN' facility who has spun it up from scratch.

Do  you have any suggestions of a tame RUCIO guru(s) who could talk with Brad? We are trying to sort out resource requirements, hardware and labor. One challenge is untangling how much effort is needed for install and config from how much effort is involved in migration of existing data. In our case we will have a relatively clean slate so the “it took us a year” answer may not apply..

Any help very gratefully accepted!

Best regards,

                Graham
