I've been tasked with putting together the ALP for the Energy Frontier in High Energy Physics (see details below). I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have towards our future. Of course, there is very little room available, so short statements are preferred.

My plan is to concentrate on the ATLAS upgrade, offshore Higgs Factory (capturing host lab), Muon Collider (demonstrator), and a proposal for HEP for EIC (BSM physics). I'd like to add the potential for a new test beam at BNL given that HEP is now reconsidering its support of the FNAL facility.

We should certainly cover physics; R&D for accelerators, magnets, detectors, computing & software (including AI/ML), and the potential for external partnerships.

You are receiving this email because you have been appointed the point of contact for a component of one of the four S&T  initiatives, as shown in the attached spreadsheet (col J). You should view the titles in column I as shorthand and refer to the annual lab plan and the initiative leads for the scope of your component.

 

Briefly, the goal is to have a 1 page lab agenda for each of these components. The one pager (template attached) outlines the vision for that component, the high level strategy, the overall goals, the FY25 milestones and what if anything is needed from the lab to support that effort.

 

As point of contact we are asking you to fill out this template and return it to Stasia by Friday January 10^th.

The idea is that these are very brief and to the point, but will allow us to help you push the initiatives forward.

 

I will be holding an information session in the near future to help you fill this out and let you know how we are going to use these, but please start work on them now. Hopefully, for many of you this will be very straightforward to fill out since you presumably have already done this thinking.
