Hi,
My questions first: Does SDCC already provide a CVMFS proxy on the
internal BNL network, and if so, what is it's URL? If not, are there
enough CVMFS users on the BNL internal network to justify creating such
a proxy and would SDCC be the best group to provide it?
In our experiments (DUNE and MicroBooNE) we are relying more and more on
CVMFS on our workstations on the BNL internal network and we have been
using it without any proxy. This is working well in terms of
performance and access. Until now....
What prompts my questions is that recently someone in our group wanted
to have read access to:
/cvmfs/dune.osgstorage.org
on our local workstations. This seems to be special a "special"
repository in that we can not merely add it to CVMFS_REPOSITORIES. The
user was able to find a work-around to configure the use of:
http://cvmfsbproxy.cern.ch:3126
as a fallback proxy and then could see the mount.
I do find that SDCC interactive hosts already have this CVMFS directory
available and do not have mention of it in their CVMFS_REPOSITORIES
configuration variable. So, I guess there is some configuration in the
proxy to make this mount available. I tried to use that same proxy, as
listed in SDCC's /etc/cvmfs/default.local:
http://cvmfs-cache.sdcc.bnl.gov:3128
on my workstation but it is not available to the BNL internal network.
Thanks,
-Brett.
