Thank you for the productive discussion today.  For those interested in or working on calculation of the current density, have a look at (and feel free to add to) the overleaf document:

One of the useful things to consider in this is the limitations of our simulation -- we expect the charge in the TPC from things other than MIPs from the collision to be larger than we simulate, by an unknown factor.
