Hi Emma,
Thank you for posting your abstract! I have a few comments:
General comment: I would add something about how sPHENIX has the first HCal at mid rapidity at RHIC. If you have space, you might mention that one of the challenges of calibrating an HCal is the lack of a standard candle such as a pi0 to calibrate to. This
will then better motivate looking at something like an isolated hadron response to understand the calorimeter's performance.
Line 3: It probably seems overkill to have 30+ posters say this, but I would still point out in line 1 that at this point sPHENIX has begun data taking! It makes the matter of calibrating the calorimeters even more relevant because the data is literally here.
Line 3: "uncertainties associated with the calorimeter response to produced particles" -> "...uncertainties associated with such calibrations" or something similar. Really what the calibration is addressing
is the calorimeters' response to the energy from embedded particles.
Line 8: I would add some specificity to the description of the HCals by changing "followed by two layers of its hadronic calorimeter" to something like "followed by an inner and outer hadronic calorimeter made of aluminum and steel absorber, respectively".
Feel free to fold this in with the general comment above.
Line 9: "Isolated tracks of momentum p are found utilizing the sPHENIX charged-particle tracking systems and are matched to calorimeter energy deposits E"
I would add a slight clarifying remark regarding the isolation criteria. Are the tracks required to be a certain distance away from other tracks, calorimeter energy deposits, or both? Perhaps something like "Isolated tracks, those separated by a minimum distance
from the nearest ______ are found..."
Line 10: "calorimeter energy deposits E" -> "calorimeter energy deposits with energy E" for consistency.
Line 10: "E/p ratios" -> "E/p distributions"
Line 14: "understand non-linearities in the hadronic response" -> "understand the hadronic response"
Best,
-Anthony

Hi all,
Attached is my QM poster abstract looking at hadronic calorimeter response using isolated single hadrons. And suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated.
Best,
Emma McLaughlin
