Hi Charles,
If you can, I'd still prefer to remove the 'laser fire' wording:
"Knowing the direction of the laser fire is crucial to measuring the" ==> "Knowing the laser trajectory is crucial to measuring the" or "Knowing the direction of the laser is crucial to measuring the"
Aside from that, it looks comprehensive, and I think it is ready to be printed.

Thanks Ross,
Thanks for all your suggestions, I was able to take all of them into consideration.
I have (what I hope is) the final version of the poster on invenio:
And I'll upload all the plots to the database Anne asked for.
I think I'm gonna go ahead and place the order to print this poster. Fingers crossed that the hotel FedEx is not swamped with everyone else who got the same bright idea.

Subject: Re: [Sphenix-calibration-l] Steerable Laser QM 23 Poster - Note and PosterDear Charles,
It looks much improved. I like the drawings of the laser systems (thanks Dan for making that possible) If there is still room to adjust, I would suggest:
"The lasers are mounted at the wagon wheel of the TPC – 4 on each side. Laser light is produced in the optical bench (pictured on the right), sent through the 2 stage steering, and then enter the TPC gas volume." ==> "The lasers are mounted at the wagon wheel of the TPC – 4 on each side. Laser light is produced in the optical bench (shown on the right), sent through the two-stage steering, and then enters the TPC gas volume."
"Laser Fire" ==> "Laser Path" or "Laser Trajectory" instead. "Fire" feels slangy, but that is up to you -- the poster is, after all, your voice not mine.
"Important to get granular static distortion map (voxelization). Need to efficiently sample TPC volume by picking laser angles which hit voxels at central membrane only once. (Right)" ==> "Important to get granular static distortion map (voxelization). Need to efficiently sample TPC volume by picking laser angles which sample uniform (r,phi) grid at, eg, z=0 evenly. (Right)"
I want to avoid saying 'central membrane' there, because it mgiht confuse between direct and diffuse lasers.

Hello Everyone,
I have a new version of the poster for review at this link:
I'm working on updating the invenio note, but its 530 AM so I'll get to it later today.
Please let me know what you think. I tried to make the following changes:
- Bob & Ross:
- Recommended placing titles in each text bubble and I did that. To Bob's suggestions I tried to walk through the description and motivation as simply as I could to try and make it more accessible to non-experts.
- Ben:
- I had mixed success using the SVGs on the poster. Some came out great (resolution-wise) but some came out so-so. As such, some figures are SVGs but some are .pngs. All are now in the sPHENIX plot format.
So, since this is all simulation, it does not need full approval by collaboration like Ben, Thomas, and Adi needed. This is the quote from Anne Sickes:
- Tom and Dan:
- I incorporated a couple figures from Dan's powerpoint presentations. This is a complicated system and as much as I would have liked to talk about the PZ motors (especially to try to incorporate Seth's work), I don't think that's the focus of the poster. I did what I could.
"If they are solely simulation, the do not need to be presented tomorrow, they just need to be circulated to the collaboration.
So, I'll do that after confirming all the plots with Ross.
Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. Here are the latest versions which I would still consider a work in progress.

Ross:
Thanks for the great suggestions, I wasn't able to implement all of them yet but most I got in there, I think. I'm wondering if I should just remove the geometry drawing in the bottom right corner - would make more room for text.
If possible, I'd like to discuss the rest of these changes with you tomorrow at 11:30 AM, so I can direct feedback.
Dan and Tom:
So, I can't access the sharepoint link that Dan shared with me. Not sure if I can get a different link. This is the error I get:

Ben
Thanks for the helpful information. I think you and Ross are on the same page about cutting down on the picture of the simulated static distortions to just the r component. As far as the sPHENIX style plots go, I'm working on that, hope to show the cleaned-up versions tomorrow.
Thanks everyone.

I added Dan Cacace to the reply since I think he has an even prettier and more up-to-date version of the CAD model.

Hi Charles,_______________________________________________
Looks like a decent start. I assume the bubbles are:Abstract"Here's a collision environment and the effect on a track""Here's the laser device as installed"- I propose the attached picture as a more useful sketch than the somewhat noisy thing with all the dangling wires. that way you have one 'here's the picture' and one 'here's it is installed'.
<PastedGraphic-4.png>"Here's how we find our laser in the chamber"- I think the xy and the transform are a good pair to show. might want to highlight where the transform is wrt.- did we ever establish what some all of that noise was? I think it was hits being pulled away from the laser path by charge sharing across module boundaries?- the static field seems out of place here. Maybe trim that down to only the R component so you can make it larger, and move it to the next bubble
"Here's what happens when we look for our laser with distortions"- the point being that we want to have a search window that captures all the real hits, so we can compare their positions to their expectations, knowing this large R distortion exists.-- nb that the stripe at large R is because the simulation didn't let electrons drift beyond the OFC.
"Here's how we fill space with the lasers"- I assume this will include the 'want to cover each Z interval with a fixed r-phi spacing of laser lines, in TPC coordinates' or other introduction.- Not the best coordinate system graphics, if you have time to clean them up. It would be really neat to see where that hole at theta=0, phi=180 is.
...Obviously don't use my bubble titles. ;)

Hello All,
Sorry for the delay. I know we are running out of time.
I have a draft poster and accompanying note on invenio for QM 23 for my poster:
"Characterization of Static Distortions in the sPHENIX TPC with a Steerable Laser System"
Draft Note:
Draft Poster:
Unfortunately, my poster is not finished. I have been working on some other things in the past weeks, it's 4 AM and I have done what I can for tonight (obviously more work to do in next couple of days). I figured it's best at this point to get these out here for feedback before 08/30 (which is the last approval date for QM).
I have shown most of these plots I'm requesting for approval in the calibrations meeting last week, so they aren't totally new, but this is the first time I'm showing the poster and note as a (mostly) complete piece.
Feeback welcome (again, it's not 100% done)._______________________________________________
