Below are minutes from today’s meeting.
Christine --
Studies for forward Collins measurements at sPHENIX and EIC-sPHENIX – Ralf Seidl (RIKEN) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First look at smearing for reconstructed jet phi and eta distributions based on simulations including forward calorimeters Should be noted that forward HCal response not yet implemented fully in simulation, affecting energy calibration of jets. For tracks, assumed forward GEMs.
Red is MC truth, green reconstructed.
Note that sPHENIX barrel may provide tracking out to eta = 2.
Plans to look at projections for Collins asymmetries in central barrel as well. Should also be measurable asymmetries in this kinematic region, based on previous STAR measurements.
Additionally started to look at how EIC-sPHENIX charged current measurements using Jacquet-Blondel reconstruction of the event kinematics could improve on (SI)DIS measurements at high Q^2 and moderately high x. So far at the generator level, kinematic reconstruction looks promising.
Nonperturbative momentum width projections to constrain q-hat in p+A collisions – Jordan Roth and Joe Osborn
Inspired by discussion between Jin and Hongxi Xing at Quark Matter, after his talk showing how q-hat could be constrained by comparing e+p and e+A and collisions at the EIC. Looked at using photon-jet p_out widths in p+p vs. p+A at sPHENIX to constrain q-hat, assuming barrel plus forward calorimetry to see minimum x reached.
With minimum photon pT of 7 GeV and forward-forward configuration for photon + jet, lowest x~0.003.
Suggestion to go down to photon pT of 5 GeV to reach even lower x. Also to examine kinematic coverage and expected uncertainties if select e.g. both the photon and the jet forward, one forward-one central, and both central, but then statistics will be more limited in each case.
Will make separate kinematics and uncertainty projection plots for central-central, forward-central, and forward-forward. Will also follow up with Hongxi to try to get calculations with uncertainty bands, to understand impact of data.
