Hi Desmond,

Thanks for the nice set of slides – I have a few minor comments below. Good luck with your talk tomorrow!

Joe Osborn

Pg 4 – For hadronization, you could consider putting “jet substructure” instead, or adding jet substructure as another bullet.  sPHENIX also was designed as a jet substructure detector, and we should also be able to learn about (perturbative) fragmentation patterns in addition to (nonperturbative) hadronization physics.

Pg 19 – I’m not sure if you plan to say this verbally, but it should probably also be mentioned that sPHENIX has a dedicated B meson and B jet program. You may also get asked why this plot has ~200 pb luminosity (it was made before the BUP and before we decided on the crossing angle and lower luminosity etc.).

Pg 20 – You could consider showing the published PHENIX result for context/motivation to these plots, see PRC 99, 044912 (2019).

Pg 21 – I would change the wording from “tension exists between nPDF models” to “nPDFs unconstrained at low Q^2”. These plots were intended to show this, as well as the fact that the A dependence of nPDFs is largely unconstrained (for which RHIC is a great place to try and study the A dependence due to the versatility of the accelerator).

Pg 25 – I would remove “(new)” after charged hadrons in the nuclear modification bullet – sPHENIX should be able to measure to higher pT (which is maybe what you meant), but charged hadron R_pAs have been measured at both PHENIX and STAR.

Pg 25 - In the very last bullet, maybe change PDF to nPDF to emphasize the nuclear aspect.

Dear Cold QCD members,

Attached are the slides I will be presenting during the Cold QCD workshop tomorrow afternoon.  Please let me know whatever comments you have and if there is anything that I am overlooking.  Some updates that I am working on right now are:

-The inclusion of a slide introducing the Sivers distribution

-Updated gamma-jet plots

Bearing this in mind, feel free to point out any other issues that you come across.

Best Regards,

Desmond Shangase
