Hi Itaru and Ejiro, hi all,

I uploaded draft slides for Thursday's shift change meeting here:
https://indico.bnl.gov/event/22965/#2-2024-run-preparations

spin team - please comment, in particular Itaru, if something needs to be changed.

Ejiro - these slides don't touch on the ZDC threshold, online monitoring and calibration, all of which you mentioned in your slides. How would you like to proceed? I can try to add this information in my set of slides, or do you prefer to modify your set of slides?

Devon and Manuel - on the online monitoring front, it would be great to include also the latest status from Michigan!

Best,
Caroline

Dear spinners,

There is a request from our Run coordinator, Jamie to give a readiness report of SMD/ZDC in the shift change meeting on this Wednesday. Can anyone volunteer to report the status of SMD and veto counters? It is hard for me to attend this meeting in Japan until April 15th since the time difference from BNL is 13 hours. In addition to Ejiro's ZDC report, please add following updates from folks, for example:

- Greg's SMD gain calibration (slide 2&7)

- Athira and Greg's local polarimeter (slide 3, 4, and 5)

- Vincent's local polarimeter  (slide 2 & 3)

Manuel, do you have any updates on the online monitors? Whatever the status is, I would like to hear from you in the next cold-QCD meeting anyway. Please consider.

Regards,
-itaru

Hi all,

Yes, we have to coordinate this. Certainly, a summary of the work on SMD and Veto counters for the Spin program will be best presented by someone from the cold QCD group. I  don't have a strong preference on giving an update on the ZDC (I just prefer to be present).
I attached a summary (as far as I know) on the progress since the collaboration meeting in December 2023.

It would be great if the rest of the team find Thursday favorable, as well.

Best regards,
Ejiro

Hello Ejiro (cc JH, Peter, Caroline, Itaru),

Thanks for the reply about the ZDC/SMD subsystem report.     Since this needs to be  a coordinated effort,  I am cc'ing some of the other team members.    I mentioned that you folks might want an email list - not sure if anyone acted on that.

If you want to have the team give an update on Thursday this week (instead of Wednesday), that would work.    I think Friday will be too crowded.

Sincerely,

Jamie

Hi Jamie,
I would benefit from moving the ZDC report to Thursday or Friday as I already have several scheduled appointments on Wednesday.

Thanks for the consideration,
Ejiro

Hello All,

Beam in  the machine is just over  a week away (Monday, April 15, 2024) and we will be starting 4-person full shifts the next day (Tuesday, April 16, 2024).     We expect to start having some  overnight stores as soon as 3-4 days later.
As  part of our preparations, it would be great to have the  following...

(1)  Starting  Tuesday, April 9, 2024, we will require a detector expert and a report for each subsystem  at the 3:30 pm ET Shift Change Meeting (SCM).

(2)  Also, we will have some longer subsystem reports  on detector readiness at the SCM.    These should include detailed lists of what remains to be done for taking data with beam, any issues that are open, list of experts, and initial data monitoring plans.   We had our first report yesterday from the MBD team - thanks!     Here is  a schedule for other subsystem reports.

- Tuesday (EMCal, HCal)
- Wednesday   (INTT, ZDC/SMD)
- Thursday (MVTX, sEPD)
- Friday (TPC, TPOT)

(3)  Lastly, there has been a big shift away from  the  e-log and towards MatterMost.     For  significant changes in detector configuration / operating procedures, etc., we really need those in  the e-log.      I would like to ask all subsystems to make an extra effort to utilize the e-log starting this next week  - note that these can be cut-and-paste from MatterMost, and  are not meant to curtail useful communication on  MatterMost.

Sincerely,

Jamie
