Hi Ralf and Sasha,

I've forgotten about the fact that there is no LL1 in ZDC in sPHENIX. So there will be no neither ZDC wide nor narrow. So following is what we have for sPHENIX.

Thanks Ralf, Sasha

I will check with trigger experts if ZDC wide has any vertex cut.  If it does include vertex cut, then the list will be as follows for now. We can add other triggers later as they becomes available.

Hi Itaru and Sasha,

I agree it would be good to have coincidence triggers without vertex conditions in them. If the ZDC wide still has a cut, maybe we can indeed add a novertex one as well. If I understand Martin correctly we have 16 bits available, so adding this one trigger might be useful. I fully agree on the other triggers you mention.

Additionally, it might be good to add other triggers, such as from the calorimters, for testing. But I think those triggers are still in development, so that might be more important at a later point in the run. Also, whenever Chi provides the SMD scalers we would of course want to have those Up/down/left/right x N/S instead, right?

Cheers,

Ralf

Hi Itaru,

Does ZDC_wide have any (even very wide) vertex cut? - If we want to
use one-side ZDC scalers to correct rel. lum. for pile-up there should
be the ZDC coincidence scaler without vertex cut (as we have for MBD).

... I remember in PHENIX the wide vertex cut was something like 150cm,
and I don't remember why we didn't use "novertex" instead.

Sasha.

Hi All,

Here is the list of GL1p triggers. Let me know if there is any
other trigger missing or your preference in the order. Then I'll ask
Martin to map the GL1p triggers to follow this order.

Hi Sasha, all,

yes we definitely should also include the singles as that should
help us understand pile-up even thought at 200 GeV that is less of a
problem. I think we mentioned this to Martin and they should be also
included.
When I was last at BNL in March I think he mentioned that Joe had
already prepared the GL1p scalers in the second/testing daq setup
and that it only needed to be copied over to the main setup. Maybe
we should check up with him.
Apart from the singles we did of course identify also the narrow and
wide coincidence triggers from both detectors. I agree with Sasha
that around 10cm for the narrow version of the MBD should be good.

Cheers,

Ralf

Yes, that what we used in PHENIX, and we can do the same for MBD/ZDC

in sPHENIX. We only have to decide what vertex cut to use in BBC_vtx

and ZDC_narrow. For BBC_vtx it may be +/-10cm (or whatever is
considered as MB trigger in sPHENIX), for ZDC such a narrow cut may
be
meaningless, as its vertex resolution is of the order of 10cm (if I
remember correctly); we may put e.g. +/30cm which with cross angle
running will be almost equivalent to ZDC_wide.

Do we plan to include one-side triggers, as we discussed at one of
the
Cold QCD meeting?

Sasha.

Have we chosen which triggers we want to include in the switchyard
for the GL1p scalers? In PHENIX, there was BBC no vtx, BBC vtx, ZDC
wide, ZDC narrow. I was thinking we could have something similar
with MBD and ZDC, if possible. If we haven't chosen yet, we should
do this soon and communicate with Martin what we would like.
