sPHENIX Calorimeter Electronics Meeting:

Work progressing on pCDR.  Most sections are now in place along with figures.  Editing is on going to correct typos and insure that the document is consistent with the reference design

 

Testing of digitizers at Nevis has started.   Crate, controller, and digitizer boards are in hand at Nevis.  Currently working on FPGA code for the digitizer boards.  The hope is to have progress on testing in the next 2 weeks.

 

Currently planning on submitting XMIT board for fabrication after Oct 1.   In process of checking layout and obtaining quotes.

 

Sal is doing layout for a 16 channel analog receiver board which is the test board for receiving signals from preamps for lab testing.  The EMCal Interface and Preamp schematics are almost done. For preamp board we are assuming that the surface of the light guides is not flat for a 2x8 array of towers. For prototype, it was pointed out that a 1x8 array will be nominally flat.  Will look at this option for a pre-amp board.  Thermistors will be mounted next to the SiPMs.  The plan also will include a single LED to be mounted at the center of a 2x2 tower array. 

 

There is a possibility for some beam time at LANCE late Oct or early Nov. for rad testing of components parasitic with the ATLAS(?) group.  They are planning on looking at off the shelf LDOs.  We may wan to try and get some DACs and ADCs in for testing to see  how they are effected by neutrons.

 

Meeting on Sept 30 is canceled due to conflicts with an EVMS training course that is required of L2 managers.
