Hi John and Eric,
Thank you for your feedback on my abstract. I have implemented your
suggestions and the revised abstract is below:
Cheers,
Vera
Title: Tungsten Scintillating Fiber EMCAL for sPHENIX
Abstract:
The sPHENIX detector is a proposed new detector at the Relativistic
Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The sPHENIX physics program focuses on jets and
hard probes of the quark gluon plasma (QGP). The proposed design of the
electromagnetic calorimeter (EMCAL), made of tungsten powder and
scintillating fibers, is designed to have a Moliere radius of 2.3 cm and a
detector radius of about 100 cm for a jet energy resolution of
$\sigma_{E}/E=120\%/\sqrt{E}=5.4$~GeV to resolve single photons and electrons
in the high multiplicity environment, and to identify photon jets. The $\eta$
and $\phi$ segmentation of the EMCAL is 0.024 x 0.024. We have submitted a
preliminary request for an extension of T-1044 at FNAL test beam facility
(FTFB) to evaluate the next generation of EMCAL and HCAL modules for sPHENIX
in the April-July 2016 time frame. Presumably these modules will be part of
that test.

Vera,
That's a good idea to submit such an abstract and it looks good.
A couple of suggestions:
- I think element names are not capitalized when used in text, so it's
tungsten powder, not Tungsten powder
- I would omit the 2.3 cm Moliere radius and just waffle something about
the segmentation being consistent with the shower size.
- Also, you should probably rephrase "resolution high enough" because of
verbal confusion of "high resolution" with big number over square root
of E, but if you can't think of better wording, that's ok.
