Hi John,
If we can get a version of the pCDR with all the parts but some
missing figures by Fri Sept 18 then I'd be satisfied. I have finally
had a chance to meet with the authors of each
chapter and everyone now has their writing assignments. The Sept 18 version I
plan to show to Berndt. On this project he has insisted that he
sees all our works in progress. He'll likely share this with his Project Management
committee. Then by Fri Oct 2 I'd like a
completed version which will also go to Berndt. I expect that there will
be a final short round of editing, perhaps 1 week, after that before it shown to those outside
the project or the lab.
By the way, should I send a specific invite to Dick Majka and Nikolai to attend the
sPHENIX Tracker meetings? Do you know if they signed up to the
sphenix-tracking-l list, or even the general sphenix list? Let me know.
Thanks.

Ed,
Thanks for sending out the message. Since I am leaving for two weeks, I have zipped the entire document at present and will work on the Science Objective and Performance Chapter locally on my laptop. I would like to get it in condition to send it to a few people in sPHENIX to review and suggest changes. Jamie and Dave have been helpful in getting the figures together and some editing already.
I guess I am still unsure as to when you wish to have a version that satisfies sufficient standards to be sent outside the collaboration. Is that the end of September to Berndt?
Thanks and sorry for the repeat question, but the date did not sound decided upon yet.
Regards,
John

Hi John and Brant,
I agree. I just sent around a message to the authors.
Hopefully they will be more careful and check for errors
before ending their editing session.

Hi John,
Yes, this is an issue with multiple people editing the same document.
I have not had time to investigate what errors have been introduced, but
yes, I encourage Ed to send a messge to the writers to make sure that
any changes introduced do not cause compile errors. One approach is to
follow the instructions on doing a git clone, and then only do git add,
git commit when all errors are corrected. When people edit directly in
overleaf, they may not be aware of making such errors.

Guys,
Someone has edited the pre-CDR file and has left text in with a LaTEX
compile error since mid-afternoon today. This also happened last
Sunday, and I had to correct the error for whomever before I could
compile my text and see the .pdf
I presume people have been warned about this or someone goes in and
cleans things up from time to time. This sort of thing prevents some
progress in that it is impossible to check a compiled version if
someone else has introduced errors.
Now maybe there is a way to do it, i.e. only compile my .tex file, of
which I am unaware. If so, maybe someone could let me know if that is
possible?
Thanks and sorry for the complaint.
John
