participants: Sean Stoll, Mike Skoby, Craig Woody, Eric Mannel, Nathan Grau, John Haggerty, Vera Loggins, teve Boose, Mike Lenz, Bill Lenz, Martin Putschke, Brandon McKinzie, Eric Thorsland, Joey Smiga, Jin Huang, Spencer Locks, Virginia Bailey, Ed O’Brien, Don Lynch, Anne Sickles (did I forget anyone?)
Discussions highlights
2016 testbeam paper:
goal: paper to the collaboration by September 15
discussion of temperature compensation. Issue with the mapping in current version. Martin will fix and recalculate the temperature variation of the gain.
shower based calibration: Jin showed initial version of the shower based calibration.
action item: Will incorporate the fixed temperature compensation and make a plot to compare the shower based calibration to the MIP based calibration from Mike S.
action item: then will reproduce DSTs with the shower based calibration to see impact on analysis
analysis: Virginia showed slides showing the analysis for the set2 calibration and the 2nd energy scan from both the Illinois and THP sweet spots
action item: analysis will be extended to EMCal + Hcal energy scan, “high rapidity” data and 180 degree rotated data for systematic checks.
clustering (Brandon McKinzie): clustering performance seems under control using CMS algorithm.
action item: Jin will work on the technical issue (tower geometry) to use the clustering in the prototype analysis & simulations. We will then do the analysis with both the 5x5 sum (current)
and clustering
Sean showed measurements of the light collection uniformity as a function of the condition of the lightguide surface. The uniformity and magnitude degrade with the surface quality
2017 prototype (blocks 19-22):
overall timeline in John H’s slides
light guides: decision to have half the light guides made by Stony Brook in the same manner as the 2016 prototype and half made by another means (see Sean’s slides for some ideas under consideration)
modules: discussions with Eric T and Spencer about module construction and screens for 2017 prototype
action item: between Eric T and Spencer we will finalize the design of the screens this week so they can be ordered.
discussion by Eric M and others on electronics needs for 2017 prototype
