Hi all-
Below is a draft of my abstract for QM. Suggestions welcome!

Title: sPHENIX Calorimeter Waveform Digitizers
Abstract:
sPHENIX is the future state-of-the-art detector at Brookhaven National Laboratory's Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. It consists of large- acceptance electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters, precision tracking and a 1.5T superconducting magnet. sPHENIX will study the quark gluon plasma over a range of length scales by measuring rare heavy-flavor and jet phenomena with high statistics. To realize this goal, sPHENIX must read out over 27,000 calorimeter channels with a high-speed data acquisition rate of 15 kHz. This is achieved by using 60 kHz 64-channel 14-bit waveform digitizers to continuously convert analog responses into digital signals over a large dynamic range. A common direct digitization is used for both the hadronic and electromagnetic calorimeters. Multiple samples (~10-14) are obtained for each channel in each event with an event sampling rate six times the beam crossing frequency. The digitizer generates near-offline quality 2x2 patch summed 8-bit Level 1 trigger primitives for every beam crossing and transfers them via 2.4 Gpbs optical link to the data acquisition system. The noise characteristics and status of the digitizer development, including their role in the January 2017 prototype tests at Fermilab's Test Beam Facility, will be presented.
