Hi Achim,

I purposefully left the energy response fits alone to show that the tail was indeed affecting the fits. Additionally I wanted to make an apples-to-apples comparison to the first joint energy scan fits. I've attached a couple of plots where I adjusted the fits to better match the peaks in the third joint energy scan, i.e. where the block boundaries were included. The fits here are better, and thus the resolution is better. It could be useful to compare this to the resolution where the fits include the low energy tails. These attached plots can be directly compared to page 11 and 12 of my previous attachment, i.e. they are the same data just with the energy response fits adjusted to better match the peak.

Joe,

the energy response fits still don’t look too good, try an asymmetric window just around the peak as you know where the maximum is and avoid the low tail. This will be different from energy to energy, e.g. try for the 2GeV a window 2.0 - 2.6

Dear sPHENIX EMCalers,

While investigating the work that I showed in the meeting on Tuesday, I found a small bug in the application of my hodoscope recalibration values. I've attached some slides detailing the bug and the fix, with plots included that were requested during the meeting on Tuesday.

Please let me know if there are any questions/comments. I include plots for both the first joint energy scan and third joint energy scan, where the third scan included the block boundaries.

Thanks,

Joe Osborn
