Nice picture. Tell me please - the element which “bundles” the fibers is just the frame - right? 
Have you ever  thought of using plastic meshes - less danger to cut the cladding on sharp edges. Delrin or something even stronger. Of using pc-board technology. 200mkm pc-board - Cu plating can be important for adhesion and “no hanging chads” production (stamping).  Using Pb (hardened) at least for the last mesh - then you will not be limited by thickness of the mesh (2mm of Pb are easy to stamp - no lithography) so the bend against sharp edge will be less of a problem.
