Following Up on the review we had last week, the following are the answers we determined to the questions asked in the introduction to the review:
Questions Answered :
1.Anything in general from last beam test that we can improve upon (assembly, shipping, handling, etc)? Not really. lifting safety review calculations from v2 attached in this INDICO page2.What changes from Outer HCal, Inner HCal, EMCal since last beam test? No Changes to Other HCal, Inner HCal to be redesigned for 4 stock absorber plates per tower (was 5), EMCal completely redesigned.3.What orientation(s) between the 3 calorimeters are required? E. Kistenev suggested aligning “the mass cg’s of the 3 calorimeters” with the nominal beamline. R. Ruggiero will prepare an illustration of this and submit to J. Haggerty for review/modification/approval (see action items)4.Does the design of the assembly support structure meet these requirements. To be determined when R. Ruggiero’s illustrations are reviewed.5.Do the prototype calorimeters sufficiently simulate the current projected final design mechanically, thermally, electronically, optically, etc. Qualified yes, need to review R. Ruggiero’s illustrations, R. Pisano’s calculations/tests, and S. Boose’s electronics schematics to check.6.What are the safety issues? Are they appropriately addressed? Handling, Lifting and electrical safety. See answer to Item 1, above, for handling and lifting issues, see answer to item 5, above, for electrical issues.7.What is the assembly and pre-beam test commissioning schedule? Schedule to be prepared by D. Lynch by 10/4/17 (see action items) To be validated by J. Haggerty8.Do all component fabrication/procurement schedules meet this? See answer to item 79.Are all non-mechanical issues addressed?Qualified yes, see item 5 above.10.Are we set with the assembly area (510 Hi Bay)? ESR in place? Yes, C. Pontieri to update ESR.11.Will the existing support structure be ready for assembly/test when components arrive? Yes, C. Biggs to deliver shortly12.Any other issues to be addressed. None, identified yet, address as they arise.
The Action Items from this review are as follows:
1. R. Ruggiero to create layout/illustration of the required orientation(s) between the 3
calorimeters. Due by 10/4/17
2. J. Haggerty, J.
LaJoie, E.
Kistinev and C. Woody will review layout and accept or make final adjustments. Due by 10/6/17
3. R. Ruggiero will prepare detailed drawings for Inner
HCal v2.1 prototype assembly. Due by 10/13/17
4. Production Readiness Review will follow immediately after details are complete and orders placed for delivery by mid November. D. Lynch to follow up by 1017/17
5. S. Stoll
will prepare detailed drawings
EMCal v2.1
prototype assembly. Due by 10/20/17
6. Production Readiness Review will follow immediately after details are complete and orders placed for delivery by
12/1/17. D. Lynch to follow up by
10/24/17
7. E.
Mannel/S.
Boose to provide prototype calorimeter electronics by mid December. Parts/equipment list to be provided by 10/31/17.
8. R.
Pisani to provide test/analyses report on cooling requirements and provisions for the v2.1 Calorimeter prototypes. Provide report and parts/equipment list for prototype test
by 10/31/17.
9. C. Biggs to move v2.0 prototype test support stand and calorimeters and prepare 510 Hi-Bay area for assembly and pre-beam test equipment checkout by mid 11/17/17.
10. C.
Pontieri to revise and renew ESR for prototype assembly and testing in 510
HiBay area plus provisions for continuing to use area for
sPHENIX related projects by 10/31/17.
11. D. Lynch to create a schedule for fabrication, procurement, assembly and shipping of assembly to Fermi Lab. Due by 10/4/17.
