Dear EMCal and HCal lists,

We have two undergraduate students at the University of Colorado who are
applying to the Conference Experience for Undergraduates with poster
presentations at the DNP meeting in October.

The abstract submission deadline to DNP is 2 July, and we are happy for any
comments on their draft abstracts over the next few days. (I will send them
in separate emails to the relevant mailing lists.)

Francesco Vassalli, copied here, has drafted the following poster abstract:



Analysis of Fermilab Test Beam Using a PbGl Calorimeter for sPHENIX Detector
Prototypes

The sPHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider will
measure high energy jets, photons, and other rare processes that
result from high energy nuclear collisons to gain insight on the
nature of strongly coupled high temperature nuclear matter. A test of
the prototype high-pseudorapidity electromagnetic and hadronic
calorimeters was conducted in the spring of 2018 at the Fermilab Test
Beam Facility. The secondary beam was calibrated by a Lead-Glass
electromagnetic calorimeter, with single electron events selected by a
series of Cherenkov, hodoscope, and veto detectors. Proper
calibration of the beam momentum and momentum spread is essential for
the accurate testing of the sPHENIX calorimeter response. We present
an analysis of the linearity and resolution of the beam as a function
of energy from 2-16 GeV.
