Oleg, your fibers are double clad - right. The outer cladding is PMMA. I
would not expect neither serious short term (we effectively do not care much
of eating up external cladding layer) nor of long term stability issues (same
reasons). There can be a bit of accelerated aging (again because of external
layer) but it may even serve the purpose - killing cladding light).
But those are just guesses - you already have modules 5 years old - direct
comparison of the light yield then and now is probably one immediate answer.
