Hi Tim,

Many thanks for the comparisons you have made. During the Fudan group meeting last night, we discussed the need to finalizing the QA procedure at Fudan and prepare for a production readiness review in March. One question we had is with the scintillation test. Do we need the scintillation test set up at Fudan? What quality of the block do you expect to check with the scintillation test? Was there any block with quality issue, which passed the other QA procedure and was identified with the scintillation test? We are trying to minimize the QA steps while maintaining the essential ones.

Our modification of the mold structure led to slightly more time needed for assembly. We hope the change will improve the reproducibility of blocks in the production. The measurement method for dimensions would be important. Do you recommend us to use the wedges too?

The Chinese New Year break starts next week. Next two weeks will be very slow.

  Thanks again. Regards,

  Huan

Hello Everyone,

We have had the opportunity to now fully test the two blocks shipped to us from Fudan. The results, and comparisons to what was measured at Fudan, are detailed in the attached slides. However, the short form of the comparison is that we observe over all good agreement with the results of Fudan’s QA tests. With the largest deviations arising in the dimensions, where we are using two distinctly different methods for evaluation (wedges at UIUC and calipers/height gauge at Fudan).

We are very happy to have received the shipment of these first two nice blocks, and are actively looking forward to receiving the next larger shipment of blocks here at UIUC!

Best Regards,

Tim

Hello Everyone,

Today we excitedly received the first shipment of 2 blocks from Fudan at the NPL at UIUC! They were packed very thoroughly which provided us with a lot of fun unpacking the many layers of boxes, foam, and tape (see attached photo) and ensured that no damage happened during transport. We have already started testing these blocks and will run these blocks through the full testing procedure here at UIUC. We expect to report the results of which at the emcal meeting next week.

Best Regards,

Anne and Tim
