Hi all,
A couple brief follow ups to our discussion Friday about the eta and pi0 calibrations:
- I finally posted to the wiki page as Anne has been requesting a couple of references I could find on the pi0 tower by tower calibrations. https://wiki.bnl.gov/sPHENIX/index.php/EMCAL#Calormeter_Data_Driven_Calibrations They are not super detailed but are the only ones I could find.
-Also one addendum to our discussion on eta->2gamma stats above 20 GeV: another point I forgot to bring up about Anne’s talk was, although we probably want to stick to using peripheral events for the base EM scale calibration, for etas in the E ~20-30 GeV regime with even mild energy symmetry in the 2 photon decay, the effects of the underlying AuAu event are pretty tiny, e.g. there is almost zero extra combinatoric mass background. Therefore for a targeted study like checking for possible very high energy depletion in the smaller 2023 Run, we should be able to also use all the central event eta statistics as well and thus something like 10 x more stats to check this, in addition possibly to using merged pi0’s somehow.

Hi,
I had a couple questions about the statistics for calibrating to high pt in the 2023 data. I’ve attached some draft slides here but I would like to discuss them tomorrow if there is time. Any comments or questions before the meeting would be welcome.
Best, Anne
