Good evening, everyone,
Sorry for the late notice, but we'll have our regularly scheduled Calorimeter Calibrations meeting at 11:00AM EDT. The indico page can be found here:
And the corresponding zoom link can be found here:
In discussion with the Jet Structure topical group conveners, we will welcome any jet-related updates as well to facilitate the timely dissemination of feedback on analyses. We welcome, in particular, analyses making use of the new, calibrated Run 23 dataset
to present updates. Timely feedback on the production is critical so that we can issue patches. Total production time takes under and hour, so don't by shy about any issues you've found. I'll include my announcement about the dataset in the postscript beneath
my signature.
See you all tomorrow morning,
-Anthony and Blair

Begin P.S.:
"Folks,
Blair had planned to give a very nice update during the general meeting today, but the encouraging deluge of results didn't leave us time to present the status of the Run 23 calibrated data production. Blair's presentation can be found here:
Currently we have completed an initial calibration pass with 0th order QA on the golden run list that's been circulating around mattermost and in the EMCal/HCal mailing list.
It includes:
Hot and dead tower masks in the HCal and EMCal
EMCal towers calibrated to simulation's energy scale
HCal towers calibrated via the new cosmics calibration
Clusters calibrated to the EMScale via the position-dependent correction.
The DST's can be found here: /direct/sphenix+tg+tg01/jets/ahodges/run23_production_zvertex
(Note the use of the Topical Group disk space area!)
As emphasized, further QA is required on this dataset before we consider it finalized, which we hope releasing it to the public will help accomplish. If, during your perusal of the data, you find problematic artifacts,
please let us know, and please, if you make any progress over the weekend or Monday morning, plan on making an update to Monday's calorimeter calibrations meeting!
One other thing to consider is that these DST's also have a preliminary zvtex determination in them, which can be accessed by the following code:
GlobalVertexMap *vertexmap = findNode::getClass<GlobalVertexMap>(topNode, "GlobalVertexMap");
GlobalVertex *vtx = vertexmap->begin()->second;
float z_vtx = vtx->get_z();
Preliminary advice would be to impose a +/-30cm cut on the vertex. We've found this cleans up the Calorimeter-MBD correlations noticeably.
Lastly, Tim Rinn made a very nice, fast macro that does a quick calorimeter QA that would be a nice place to start for your analyses:
